Duty Free
Table
2018

Duty Free is a table developed at a moment of increasing geopolitical tension, using fragmentation and recomposition as formal and conceptual tools.

Elements derived from the visual languages of the American and Chinese flags are broken down, displaced, and reassembled into a non-hierarchical surface. The original symbols are no longer readable as identities, but persist as traces embedded in the structure of the object.

Rather than delivering a direct political statement, the table proposes coexistence through material contamination, suggesting that stability and meaning can emerge from overlap, mixture, and loss of clear boundaries.
