SOUVENIR vases Series 2023
for Galleria Luisa Delle Piane
Objects suspended between function and sculpture, where memory becomes material.
Souvenir is a collection developed in collaboration with Galleria Delle Piane, conceived as a reflection on the ambivalence of use and presence.
The works take the archetype of the vase — a functional, domestic object — and displace it into an unstable territory between sculpture and utility.
These objects are not designed to resolve function, but to question it.
Their role oscillates: they can contain, but they also resist containment. They can be used, yet they assert themselves primarily as presences.
The collection is built around a series of material and conceptual oppositions:
lightness and weight, fragility and solidity, the contemporary and the archaic.
Light, industrial materials coexist with heavier, mineral references; new processes confront ancestral forms.
In Souvenir, function becomes an oxymoron rather than a solution.
The object does not serve efficiently — it lingers, it interrupts, it remains partially unresolved.
What emerges is a quiet paradigm shift: use is no longer a requirement, but a possibility among others.
These works act as memories crystallized into form — not nostalgic, but active.
They do not recall the past; they hold it in tension with the present.
